It binds to mitochondrial volatage-dependent anion channels (VDAC) proteins, more specifically on VDAC2 and alters its gating. Erastin rapidly induces an oxidative, non-apoptotic cell death in several human tumors harboring activating mutations in the RAS-RAF-MEK signaling. |
