| Description | The bone mphogenetiproteins (ps) are a family of secreted signaling molecules that can induce ecpic bone growth. Many ps arpart of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) perfamily. ps were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. Based on its pression early in embryogenesis, the p encoded by this gene has pposed role in early devepment.
