| Description | HBVsAg-adw protein.The protein contains the Hepatitis B Virus Surface Antigenimmunodominant region and is purified by proprietarychromatographic techniques.Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a small enveloped virus thatbelongs to the hepadnavirus family.The genome of the hepatitis B virus (HBV), a partiallydoublestranded circular DNA, has four known genesencoding the viral surface proteins (pre-S 1, pre-S2 andHBsAg), the precore (pre-C) and core (C) proteins (HBeAgand HBcAg), the DNA polymerase, thexprotein.There are distinct subtypes of HBV indicative of strainheterogeneity. The subtypes are distinguished by antigenic determinants on the surface antigen (HBsAg) andtheir corresponding antibodies. There is a common groupdeterminant, a, which appears in all HBsAg specimens.There are two sets of subdeterminants, d or y and w orr, which appear to be allelic or mutually exclusive andwhich are used for the identification of subtypes.
