Description | Purity >98%. Silymarin is a mixture of natural compounds isolated from milk thistle and used as a herbal remedy. (±)-Taxifolin is a flavanonol contained in silymarin, as well as other plant extracts. It is the dihydro form of quercetin , a flavonol with antioxidant properties. (±)-Taxifolin suppresses the inflammatory response in a variety of mouse models and decreases lipid synthesis in liver cells. It regulates gene expression through the antioxidant response element in hepatic colon cancer HCT 166 cells and inhibits matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), most notably MMP-12 (IC50 = 5.7 µM). |
