| Product Name | Calyculin A (Serine/Threonine Phosphatase Inhibitor) |
| Description | Purity ≥ 98% by HPLC and TLC. Calyculin A, a polyene phosphate, was initially isolated from the marine sponge Discodermia calyx. It is a very potent, cell-permeable PP-1 and PP-2 inhibitor (IC50: 2nM and 0.5-1nM respectively, and extremely specific for PP-1 and PP2A classes of protein serine/threonine phosphatase among other acidic, alkaline and protein phosphatases. Calyculin A is a polyene phosphate, a potent inhibitor (Ki ~ 0.1nM) with high specificity for the PP-1 and PP-2 classes of protein serine/threonine phosphatase. Solubility: Soluble in DMSO and EtOH; insoluble in water. Calyculin A must first be dissolved in an organic solvent such as DMSO, ethanol, acetone or methanol. The recommended solvent for stock solutions to be used for biological experiments is DMSO. Activity: The protein phosphatase inhibitory activity is tested on adipocyte cytosolic protein phosphatase activity, using myelin basic protein phosphorylated by protein kinase C as a substrate.
