Product Name | Chorionic Gonadotropin, Recombinant, Human |
Description | Highly Purified (~99%). Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a peptide hormone produced in pregnancy, that is made by the embryo soon after conception and later by the syncytiotrophoblast (part of the placenta). Its role is to prevent the disintegration of the corpus luteum of the ovary and thereby maintain progesterone production that is critical for a pregnancy in humans. hCG may have additional functions, for instance it is thought that it affects the immune tolerance of the pregnancy. Early pregnancy testing generally is based on the detection or measurement of hCG. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Recombinant is produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells by recombinant DNA technology is a single, glycoprotein chain consisting of two non-covalently linked subunits - designated a and b consisting of 92 and 145 aa residues (237aa total, Mw: 36.7kD), respectively, with carbohydrate moieties linked to ASN-52 and ASN-78 (on a subunit) and ASN-13, ASN-30, SER-121, SER-127, SER-132 and SE |
