| Description | Purity >95%. trans -Vaccenic acid is a naturally occurring trans -fatty acid found in the fat of ruminants as well as in the meat and dairy products produced from these animals. In mammals, trans -vaccenic acid is converted to 9(Z),11(E)-conjugated linoleic acid , which has been shown to have beneficial antioxidant and antitumor activities that have been attributed to competitive inhibition of Delta6 -desaturase and/or PPARGamma activation. Additionally, a trans -vaccenic acid-rich diet has been reported to reduce serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels when fed to LDL receptor deficient mice representing an animal model of atherosclerosis. |
