| Description | GlyT1 (extracellular) Polyclonal Antibody. Slc6a9 is a glycine transporter (GlyTs) that belong to a family of high affinity Na+- and Cl-dependent neurotransmitter transporters proteins. There are two subtypes of glycine transporters; GlyT1 (Slc6a9) and GlyT2. Slc6a9 are predominantly located on glia within caudal brain areas. The amino acid glycine acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. The protein encoded by the Slc6a9 gene is one of two transporters that stop glycine signaling by removing it from the synaptic cleft. Diseases associated with SLC6A9 include Glycine Encephalopathy With Normal Serum Glycine and Infantile Glycine Encephalopathy. |
